Your newsroom, delivered daily.
What's a newsroom do? When it comes to telling stories, they do it all. And that's exactly what we bring to association communications, and to every client we work with.
Association communications
Trade associations need steady, capable communications: member news, events, a dynamic website, video, Board needs. Hiring for every one of those roles isn’t realistic. We step in as your fractional communications department, with senior leadership plus a team that writes, shoots, designs and publishes year-round — not just during a legislative session.
THIS INCLUDES
- Member newsletters, emails and news
- Coverage of advocacy days, conventions and annual meetings
- Website updates and the association’s news section
- Media relations and issues response
- Annual reports and campaigns
- Boardside, our proprietary tool for board meetings
Boardside
Your board packet,
finally in one place.
Boardside is our proprietary tool for simplifying board meetings. Available to every Kelley + Co. client, it puts every agenda item, report, and meeting detail in one private page with your organization’s look. It's accessible with a single code on any phone, tablet, or laptop.
- Save costs and hours of prep time on presentations or printed books
- Professional design with a look that matches your brand
- Quickly update and replace content as needed, even during the meeting
- Usable on any device — no app or account to set up
What it saves
Less to print. Less to chase. Less to manage.
Printing is the cost that comes back every meeting. One association client paid $575 to print 40 board books for a single meeting. Boardside replaces the binder, meeting after meeting.
| Printed board books | Boardside | |
|---|---|---|
| What you pay for | Printing, binding and shipping a book for every board member, every meeting. | No printing or shipping. Boardside is included in your retainer or added to it, depending on its scope. |
| A late change | A second packet, a printed insert, or board members reading the old version. | Updated once, and every board member sees the new version right away, even during the meeting. |
| For your board | A heavy binder, or one long PDF to scroll through. | One link and one code, on a phone, tablet or laptop. |
| Who looks after it | Your staff, assembling and re-sending. | Your team, or us. Your staff can build and publish each meeting from the dashboard, or we can prepare it for you. |
The print figure is what a client paid for board books we produced.
PR & media relations
Media isn't dead, but it is highly fractured. Gaining news coverage takes relationships and timing, and we have both. Beyond that, we'll help you get ready to talk to reporters and build storylines that cut past the clutter of a journalist's inbox.
What you get
- Story development and pitching
- Press releases and media advisories
- Media training and interview prep
- Issues and crisis communications
Advocacy & public affairs
Make your case where decisions get made. When an issue is in front of lawmakers or the public, the message has to be clear, consistent and backed up. We support government affairs teams explain where they stand, with explainer videos, leave-behind materials, coverage of advocacy days with a media push that keeps the issue in front of the right people.
What people ask before we start.
How much does it cost?
We price each project on its own, based on what you need and the timeline. Tell us what you’re working on and we’ll send a clear, flat estimate before any work starts.
Where do you work?
We’re based in the Richmond, Virginia, area and work with organizations throughout the state. We also travel for shoots, events and projects beyond Virginia when the work calls for it.
Do you only work with associations?
No. Associations are where we do the most work, and we also work with businesses, professional firms, institutions, nonprofits and advocacy groups.
Can you work with our association software?
We work with the digital tools and systems associations already use, and can help connect your communications and website with your existing workflows. Tell us what your organization runs, and we’ll talk through the best approach.
What is Boardside?
Boardside is our proprietary tool for simplifying board meetings. It brings the agenda, meeting reports and other meeting details together on a single, branded page that board members can access with a code. Ask us for a live demo.
